Book two of David’s Gift – available now in paperback and on Amazon Kindle.
It’s the summer, and David and his friends have survived a bruising battle with the aliens at Beacon Hill. David and William are staying with David’s grandpa in Wootton-on-Sea, which is said to be the most haunted town in Britain.
At first, David and William aren’t sure they believe the stories, but then a mysterious child appears to them in the middle of the night… a child in an old-fashioned sailor suit, who flees from their sight and vanishes without a trace.
Are there really lost souls roaming Wootton-on-Sea, and what does it all have to do with a star that fell from the sky a hundred years ago? A sensitive local boy called Felix may hold some of the answers, if his protective older sister will let them get close to him.
Meet the characters

DAVID ADAMS has escaped his encounter with the aliens with his powers intact, and he’s looking forward to spending the summer by the seaside with his friends.
The only problem is that his parents can’t or won’t remember what happened in the spring. Maybe Grandpa Kevin can help?

WILLIAM DAVIES and his mother still miss his dad, but they’re happy to have been invited to stay with David and his family for the summer.
After everything they went through together in the spring, David and William have become like brothers to one another.

The morning after David and William arrive in Wootton-on-Sea, FELIX HAYES literally drops into their lives while running away from three bullies who are all older than him.
A shy and unusually sensitive boy, Felix has secrets that he keeps close to his chest.

ALEX HAYES is used to protecting her little brother, and when he seems to have made two new friends, she’s suspicious at first… but at least, she says, they “look a bit more real than the last one.”

Arriving in Wootton-on-Sea a few days after her friends, CARRIE DUNMORE finds David and William already in the middle of a big adventure with an exciting new friend in tow. Has she lost her place in the group?
Wootton-on-Sea
WILLIAM: This place has everything, David! The beach, the lighthouse, boat trips, diving lessons, fish and chips, an amusement arcade, a fairground… your grandpa’s lucky to live here!
DAVID: Yeah. I bet he rides that rollercoaster all the time…
WILLIAM: *snickers* Okay, maybe not that, but seriously… how did he get his hands on the biggest house in town? I mean, it’s not like you guys are rich…
DAVID: Dad says it was a wreck when they bought it. And, then, there’s the other thing…
WILLIAM: C’mon, David. Aliens are one thing, but… we don’t really believe in ghosts, do we? That’s fairytale stuff.
BUNZER: Woof!
WILLIAM: See? Even the dog agrees with me.
DAVID: I know one thing. No aliens, no bullies, no horrible supply teachers… this is going to be the best summer holiday ever!
WILLIAM: Ah, why did you have to say that? You totally jinxed it now!

DAVID: You know I can look after myself.
WILLIAM: Yeah… how could I forget?
A visitor in the night

WILLIAM: David? What’s going on? What was that?
DAVID: You saw him, too?
WILLIAM: Yeah, but only for… like… half a second.
DAVID: It looked like a ghost. But… he was just a child!
WILLIAM: And if he was a ghost… why did he need to open the door?
Writing on an ancient page

The orb speaks in terms I do not understand, but this much I have learned.
Lost is the magenta heart, the passion and fire within.
Misplaced is the emerald of mind, thought and control.
Found is the soul of softest pink, of conscience, communication and spirit.
Also found is the golden fist, for strength when it be needed.
And finally the power of purest blue, the capstone, the force that drives and binds.
Alone they are incomplete. Together, they are one.
The power of five.
